Charitable Activities

Sai Baba by his own example has showed the path of service to humanity. He took care of the sick and the needy himself, cooked food and served with his own hands to all. He was also a generous donor, giving away all the dakshina that devotees gave him to the needy and remained a fakir always.

NESSP strives to serve the community by following the Sadguru's example. The different charitable activities we have undertaken in the past are:

  • Annadaan - Distributing cooked food from Sai Bhandara to homeless shelter in Lowell MA.
  • Winter Clothes Drive - Collection and distribution of warm winter clothes to the needy.
  • Service - Our volunteers took part in a landscaping project at the Stoneham Zoo to beautify its look for the visitors.
  • Children's Hospital - NESSP Team has been regularly participating in the annual Children's Hospital Walk to raise money for the hospital.
  •

    2010 Book Donation Drive

As part of our ongoing charitable and philanthropic contribution to the society NESSP will be collecting books for donation from May 16th till June 6th, at the new premises. You can donate any books- kids, novels, bestsellers, history or art books, music CDs, DVDs, anything that you think can be purchased in a bookstore (in other words what they can sell). Books only in English language please. You do not need to sort the books just bring them to the temple that day. We all have plenty of books at home for which our kids may have overgrown or we have finished reading them and we do not need them any more. Please bring as much books as you can and make this event successful. We will collect the books in front of the entrance to the main hall. There will be a box with a big sign "Book Donation" kept near the info desk to collect the books. The collected books will be donated to a used bookstore called More Than Words (MTW) in Waltham. More Than Words (MTW) is a nonprofit social enterprise that empowers youth who are in the foster care system, court involved, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business. The entire bookstore and the cafe in the store is run by these youths. For more information please check their website http://mtwyouth.org/ If you have any question or would like to know more about the store or donation please send me an email at charityteam@nessp.org and we will be happy to answer it.
