The Shirdi Sai Temple (NESSP) Chhath Puja
The Shirdi Sai Temple (NESSP) in Groton, MA, celebrates Chhath Puja annually, and this page offers a platform for connecting Chhath devotees in Massachusetts and its vicinity.
Chhath Puja is a traditional Hindu festival dedicated to the Sun God (Surya Dev) and his sister Chhathi Maiya, celebrated primarily in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal. The festival spans four days of rigorous fasting, ritual bathing, and offering prayers to both the rising and setting sun. It symbolizes deep devotion to nature, family unity, and spiritual awakening.
Temple has been holding Chhath Puja since 2019. It started with only a few devotees, but over the years, devotees' participation has grown significantly, and now approximately 500 devotees join us for the celebration annually to seek Chhathi Maiyas' blessings. Each year, our community continues to expand as we strive to reach more devotees and share the divine experience of Chhath Puja.
